I have been working through a few of my UFO's and hoping to get inspired by something new. Well, I did get inspired, and started a few new things, but not really sure how they might end.
The Kaffe Museum quilt is now completed - well the top only - and the border is on
On the subject of big quilts I got this one done
Kathy Doughty's pattern Fractured. There was no way I could get it basted or quilted in one go, so I made 4 smaller quilts and then joined them like "quilt as you go". I have never done this before. I knew the method behind it, but had never actually done it.
The fabrics used on this are a mixture of Kaffe Fassett prints, and brighter Repro fabrics, which all work happily together. It is currently living on my bed. Perfect for the summer as it is nice and light, with cotton batting.
Does anyone remember me making this quilt a few years back? It is based on the Little Sisters quilt held in a museum in the USA. I have had a number of requests about the pattern, if any, and where might they get it. Well, I did make it all up myself, and I did keep all my notes and drawings. Since about March last year I have spasmodically been working on putting it all together in a format that people might understand. It is not a quilt for the faint hearted, and it is not easy to write, but I am almost finished. So, now I have put it in writing, I have to get it done! It will be in my Etsy shop in a couple of weeks.....I hope.....stay tuned.
